Jellystone National Park, or simply Jellystone Park, is a fictional national park and the main setting of the Yogi Bear franchise.
Background[]
It is a national park located somewhere in the western United States and is protected by park rangers led by Ranger Smith. Animals including bears are the most prominent to be seen at the park, which includes Yogi, his pal Boo-Boo, and his girlfriend Cindy. Notes/Trivia[]
- The park itself is a reference to Yellowstone National Park, a real-life national park that's located mostly in Wyoming with certain parts of it in both Montana and Idaho.
- Most of the films resort to using Jellystone's imminent closure as a subplot, which features Yogi inevitably saving it through the film's main plot.
- The name "Jellystone National Park" was originally used in "Barney's Hungry Cousin", a 1953 theatrical short in the Barney Bear series, produced by MGM.
- Jellystone Park varies in its first appearance, including its' park entrance sign and variously colored landscapes (including trees, bushes, flowers, mountains, etc.).
- Additionally, it was sketched and painted by several of Hanna-Barbera's background and layout artists of the original Yogi Bear shorts from The Huckleberry Hound Show and The Yogi Bear Show, including Tony Rivera, Dick Bickenbach, Fernando Montealegre, Walter Clinton, Joseph Montell, Robert Gentle, Ed Benedict, Richard H. Thomas, Iwao Takamoto for "Bear Foot Soldiers", Dan Noonan, Ernest Nordli, Art Lozzi, and Neenah Maxwell.
